Here are some of the best ways on how to help your teething baby sleep!

By incorporating safe and soothing teething hacks, you can help your little one sleep peacefully and not have too much pain either!

Earthley’s Teeth Tamer

One of the best natural remedies for teething pain that I always use and highly recommend, is Earthley’s Teeth Tamer.

It’s truly one of the only things that works for my little ones. Teeth Tamer has two powerful herbs to create a teething relief serum that works wonders: clove and catnip.

I want to note this is different from using clove essential oil. This is an herbal extract, not an essential oil, so it is safe. Babies 4 months and older can benefit from Teeth Tamer.

Instead of using harmful medications or synthetic gels with unsafe ingredients and potential side-effects, Earthley uses completely clean products. 

You can put it directly into your baby’s mouth and it should work right away. Sometimes, if they are really struggling, I will give a gentle gum massage with a clean finger, using Teeth Tamer to help it be more effective. Be sure to use gentle pressure only.

Chilled soft cloths dampened and placed in the freezer can offer cooling relief to sore gums.

You can use one of these right before going to bed to help with your baby’s sore gums.

Frozen Breastmilk Popsicle

While a cold washcloth works good, sometimes they want other frozen cold items.

You can make a popsicle with breastmilk to feed your baby right before going to bed too! This might be comforting both for their gums and to fill up their tummy before sleep.

It might help with night wakings too!

Amber Bracelet

I use amber teething necklaces when my baby is awake, but it is not safe while they are sleeping.

Some people like to double wrap, if they can safely, the necklace onto their child’s foot, but I just prefer to get an amber bracelet for them to wear on their foot.

It is a natural remedy for teething that has worked wonders for my kids too.

Soothing Bath

If this isn’t part of your bedtime routine, incorporate a nice, calming bath. You can add some chamomile tea into your bath or flowers in a muslin bag.

Chamomile is very calming and safe for babies. Or you can use a lavender bath soap to help your baby be more sleepy and calm too.

Follow it with a lavender lotion and your baby should be quite calm and ready for deep sleep.


After you tried the above tips, simply give them lots of cuddles. Some babies, that’s all they need is to be in your arms.

I know it can be overwhelming and you don’t sleep as well, but sometimes, all you can do is cuddle all night long.

Co-sleeping helps with a teething baby, but you can also sleep in a rocking chair together if you prefer too.

Silicone teethers provide a firm but gentle surface for your baby to chew on, helping to massage their gums and alleviate teething pain.

Avoid toys with small parts that could pose a choking hazard, and always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for use and cleaning.

I only use silicone teethers, but you can find many non toxic teethers as well.

Take Care of Drool

You might be thinking it is all about the baby’s teeth and gums, but some teething pain can come from all the drool that happens.

Usually if you don’t wipe away the drool, your baby will start to get a rash on their chin and neck, which can be quite painful.

So be sure to take care of the drool as much as possible!

Create a Comfortable Sleep Environment

Setting the stage for a peaceful night’s sleep for your teething baby can help them stay asleep longer and get more rest.

Soft, dim lighting can help signal to your baby that it’s time to rest, while maintaining a comfortable temperature around 68-72°F (20-22°C) can promote uninterrupted sleep.

Additionally, reducing background noise or introducing white noise machine is the best way to help keep your baby asleep as well, especially if you have older children.

Stay Consistent With Your Bedtime Routine

Creating a consistent bedtime routine is key to helping your teething baby relax and prepare for a peaceful night’s sleep.
