Homemade Chocolate Protein Popsicles Recipe
Since it is getting warmer, these chocolate protein popsicles have been on repeat over here lately, mostly because they feel like a treat but actually keep you full! Which is the type of healthy snack we love around here.
If I’m grabbing something from the freezer in the middle of the afternoon, I don’t want something that tastes good for five minutes and then I’m right back in the kitchen. I want it to actually hold me over, and these do.
They’re creamy, chocolatey, just sweet enough, and you probably already have everything for them. Plus, your kids will love them and you will feel good about letting them eat one a day!

Why these are actually worth making
This is one of those recipes where each ingredient is doing something, not just filling space:
- Banana adds natural sweetness and helps make them creamy instead of icy
- Chocolate protein powder is what actually makes these filling, so it’s not just a frozen snack
- Peanut butter adds healthy fats and makes them more satisfying
- Yogurt gives them that creamy, almost fudgesicle texture and adds protein
- Cocoa powder deepens the chocolate flavor so it actually tastes rich
- Maple syrup just balances everything out without needing a ton of extra sugar
So instead of something that spikes your energy and then drops it, these actually stick with you a bit. I’ve even had one as a quick breakfast on a hot day and it works 🙂

Homemade Chocolate Protein Popsicles Recipe
These made me about 6 popsicles:
Ingredients
- 1 large banana
- ¼ cup peanut butter
- ¾ cup chocolate protein powder
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ¼ cup milk
- ½ cup yogurt
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup

Instructions
Add everything into a blender and blend until it’s smooth, like a thick smoothie.

Pour into popsicle molds and place a stick in each one.

Freeze overnight. Pop them out and enjoy!
You can store these for a few months in the freezer, but honestly, they usually disappear way sooner!

Notes
- If your blender is struggling, add a splash more milk
- Taste before freezing, protein powders vary a lot!
- Silicone molds make removing them way easier!!
- Run the mold under warm water for a few seconds if they’re stuck

Estimated nutrition (per popsicle, assuming 6 total)
This will depend a bit on your ingredients, but here’s a good estimate:
- Sugar: ~8–10g
- Calories: ~180–200
- Protein: ~12–15g
- Fat: ~7–9g
- Carbs: ~15–18g

When to make these
These are perfect when you want:
- something cold that still feels like real food
- an easy high protein snack during the week
- a quick dessert that doesn’t feel over the top, especially for kids!
- a healthier version of those store-bought fudge pops
They’ve kind of taken over our freezer, especially during the summer heat!
Final Thoughts
These homemade chocolate popsicles are one of those recipes that just make things easier. It takes maybe five minutes to throw everything in a blender, and then you’ve got something in the freezer that actually works when you need it!
I like having these on hand for those random snack moments when I don’t want to get asked all afternoon long by my kids for a snack. One of these and they are happy, and so am I!
If you’ve been looking for a simple way to make something like a homemade fudgesicle a little more balanced, this is a really easy place to start. Nothing complicated, just something you’ll actually keep making!
Let me know if you end up making it!
