My Favorite 2 Piece Postpartum Outfit

I wore these all day every day during my 3rd postpartum experience. I even wore them throughout my pregnancy and now, a year after giving birth.

They are my absolute favorite comfy outfit to wear. I think I probably have at least 10 different colors of it.

Comfy T-Shirt Dresses

Most people when they come home from the hospital think they need a special “going home outfit.” However, no one really sees you, unless you post that picture on social media.

Instead, just wear something comfy. That doesn’t mean you bust out your ugliest sweatpants and sweatshirt but put your comfort first, style second.

That being said, you can still wear something that is beautiful and comfy.

I chose to wear flowy dresses. These comfy t-shirt dresses were my favorite. It actually was my hospital postpartum outfit that I wore to the hospital just so I didn’t have to pack an extra one!

Stretchy Pants and Sweats

There are also some beautiful stretchy pants that are the comfiest thing ever. They come in floral prints and are adorable. This would be the perfect thing to wear after giving birth!

If wearing leggings after giving birth is hard for you, these stretchy pants are the next best thing. They are the best pants for after birth in my opinion!

Nursing T-Shirts

You cannot go wrong with t-shirts, along with those cute stretchy pants. I like to wear nursing ones because that is what you will be doing anyway for your baby.

I like to get flowy ones to accommodate my belly and still makes me feel good about myself.

If you plan to nurse or pump, your outfits need to be suitable for that. Many dresses and shirts can work, but there are also great nursing outfits that make it a lot easier.

Get some nursing tank tops and a few nursing/pumping dresses. Nursing bras are great to have on stock too.

If you pump, get a pumping bra. They were a lifesaver. It saved so much time and energy and ultimately helped me produce more milk!

Slippers

With my first birth, my feet got super big, to the point where my shoes didn’t even fit! Be sure to bring some slippers or shoes that allow your feet to grow so that your feet will be comfortable too!

You definitely don’t want to walk out of the hospital barefoot like me.

Slippers are one of the things that most forget when determining what to wear at the hospital after giving birth, so don’t forget!

Postpartum Underwear

Postpartum underwear is magical and so much better than what they give you at the hospital. Stock up on these and other postpartum essentials for comfort down there.

When you start to slow down on your bleeding, you might even enjoy some period underwear. They are eco-friendly and comfy!

Robes

A robe is another one of the great postpartum outfits for hospital because they are so easy to use and very comfortable.

You can easily breastfeed your baby, have nurses check on everything you need and be completely at ease.

Postpartum Pajamas

Another thing when considering what to wear after giving birth in hospital is to wear pajamas. They are quite comfortable and so many don’t even look like pajamas

If you want a super comfy outfit after giving birth, you can’t go wrong with these postpartum pajamas to wear in hospital after baby.

Maternity Clothes

A lot of my maternity clothes actually were great for postpartum. Because your belly is still shrinking, you may need to still wear your maternity clothes. I loved wearing some maternity shorts because they also help keep my stomach tucked.

With maternity clothes, you don’t have to spend any extra money on postpartum clothes! It’s a great win for those on a budget.

Choose Clothes That Make You Feel Confident

After delivery, I did not feel very confident in my body. And, ultimately that showed with the way I dressed.

So, be sure to find some clothes that make you feel good and even sexy! I find it one of the best tips when determining what to wear after delivery.

Get some nursing bras with a little lace, or find a dress that empowers you and helps you love your body!

This is a new stage in your life, and your body will never be the same. Learn to embrace and love yourself as a new mom!

What NOT to Wear After Giving Birth

Now that you know what to wear in hospital after birth, you also need to know what not to wear.

Do not wear anything tight. You may think that your belly goes flat right after your baby, but it doesn’t, not all the time.

You also will be sore, so getting in and out of tight clothes isn’t very fun either.

That usually means no jeans. I’m not a fan of leggings, they were too tight for me as well. However, if you are comfortable in them, do what works for you.

Final Thoughts

Hopefully, this helps you feel more at ease when it comes to deciding what to wear after giving birth! There are so many options to choose from, you will find something that is comfy and fits your style!
