What is Self-Love?

Self-love is the act of loving oneself and taking care of one’s own needs. It involves being kind to oneself, honoring one’s own feelings, and being conscious of one’s thoughts and actions.

Self-love is a term that covers a wide range of practices and behaviors, from accepting yourself and your circumstances to showing yourself kindness and compassion. It is an essential part of psychological health, as it affects our mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing.

How I currently love myself is through giving myself grace for things that are not in my control. If I had a bad day as a mom or didn’t complete everything I thought I would, I will give myself grace, knowing that from the start of the day and the end of the day, I am enough.

Why is Self-Love Important?

Self-love is important because it helps to build self-esteem, boost confidence, and create a foundation for meaningful relationships.

If you do not love yourself, you cannot love your neighbor, as the Bible teaches us. To extend that further, I have noticed throughout my motherhood journey, I love and accept my children much more when I love and accept myself.

Self-love is extremely important because it is the foundation for motherhood and life in general. It all starts with you learning how to love yourself first.
