20 Postpartum Survival Kit Ideas
Use this as your postpartum care kit checklist to make sure you get everything you’ll want to have for your postpartum recovery.
These postpartum kits for mom are the perfect baby shower gifts to give to a new mom too!
Here is what to put in a postpartum care package:
Witch Hazel Pads
One of the best postpartum products are witch hazel pads. They are so comforting after pushing out a baby, especially when you rip.
I love how it not only instantly soothes but will naturally help you heal faster too!
Postpartum Sitz Bath
If you had a vaginal birth, you will definitely want to take some sitz baths. Sitz baths, if your doctor says it is okay, can help you heal and brings so much relief down there.

You can do it in the bath or even over the toiler with a special sitz bath cover!
Peri Bottle
While you might be able to make a DIY peri bottle, I think it’s easiest and best to buy one. Frida Mom has one of the best peri bottles I’ve used!
It makes it so much easier to spray your vagina after going to the bathroom, way better than the hospital one.
It is one of the top things new moms need for themselves.
Perineal Spray
Also to include in your postpartum bathroom kit is a perineal spray. A perineal spray will also help down there and provide that much needed relief.
I personally love the Earth Mama Perineal spray, but they also make a balm too! You can try to make your own DIY perineal spray as well with witch hazel, essential oils, and herbs.
Postpartum Pads
For more postpartum vaginal care, you’ll want to have either postpartum pads or diapers.
I found postpartum diapers to be more comfortable, but I also really enjoyed these postpartum pads from Lansinoh. It is a witch hazel pad, but you can freeze it to create your own padsicle!
Many moms love making DIY postpartum pads or padsicles too!
Donut Pillow
You will want a soft pillow to sit on, especially if you tear while giving birth. It is quite uncomfortable to sit on a hard chair for quite some time, so I loved getting a donut pillow.
Postpartum Ice Packs
Ice packs are nice to have to further bring you relief. I found these Gentlepaks more effective than pain medicine!
The best postpartum kit will include a few of these. Best thing is they are reusable and you can use them for your period or for anything else you need an ice pack for!
Ease the Ache
Ease the Ache is from Earthley and is an natural remedy to help with period cramps or after birth cramping.

I used it with my second and felt so much relief, I will never live without it now! It is already in my hospital bag for my third baby.
Postpartum Tea
Postpartum teas are so beneficial for helping you recover, boosting your milk supply, and giving you plenty of energy.
Baby Blues Herbal Extract
Many women prepare for the physical postpartum recovery but forget about the emotional side of things.
I was a wreck after giving birth with all the hormones all over the place. I got the baby blues really bad and struggled for a time.
It wasn’t until I tried this Baby Blues Herbal Extract that I started to feel better.
Water Bottle
Having a good water bottle will help you recovery and survive this new stage of motherhood. It is exhausting, and you will need to increase your water if you are breastfeeding too.
Having a nice water bottle to take around the house will help remind you to drink and stay hydrated!
Energy Plus
Energy Plus is another herbal tincture from Earthley that I use and love. We all know new moms need all the energy they can get, and this helps!

It is a natural way to increase your iron, thus giving you more energy. It works so well, it’s incredible.
Magnesium Lotion
You will want to get some magnesium lotion to help you sleep more. It is so rough as a new mom to sleep when you can, and this lotion will help.
Magnesium is a natural way to help you fall asleep and get deep sleep. I don’t sleep without it!
Nipple Cream
If you are breastfeeding, you’ll also want some nipple cream in your postpartum survival kit. Breastfeeding can be quite painful, so a good nipple cream is one of the top breastfeeding essentials you’ll want to have around.
Nursing Pads
You might want some nursing pads in your postpartum kit for mom too. I prefer these nursing pads that cool you down and help with the pain.
Milk Supply Drink
If you want to increase your milk supply, try this drink powder!
It is so easy to use and tastes delicious. It will help you increase your electrolytes and boost your supply in the process; a win-win!

Most moms see an increase right away and give RAVING reviews! I cannot wait to try it this time around!!
Haakaa
One of the best postpartum things to buy is a Haakaa! They helped me save TONS of milk when I was pumping with my first baby.

I used them in the shower, while doing dishes, and any time I can. There are tons of haakaa hacks to help you get the most out of your milk supply.
Milk Collectors
Milk Collectors are another one of the breastfeeding gifts I try to give all new moms. Instead of using nursing pads during the day, I used these and it saved me so much milk.
Don’t let your milk go to waste in the pads, get milk collectors and enjoy saving even more milk for your little one!
It will naturally catch the letdown your body produces throughout the day and can discreetly go in your bra.
Postpartum Abdominal Support Binder
If you want to help your abs get back to where they were before you got pregnant, you might want to get a postpartum binder.
They work great and help you with your postpartum body at the same time.

The new mom survival kit ideas would not be complete without some postpartum affirmations.
Affirmations are so beneficial and help you still feel good about yourself, even while you are struggling during the postpartum stage.
Pre-made Postpartum Care Package
If you don’t have time to make a DIY postpartum package, don’t worry. There are some amazing pre-made postpartum care boxes that will work as well.
Cater to Mom
Cater to Mom has the most amazing box I’ve ever found. I wish I knew about them before I had my kids!
While they do offer a subscription box for moms each month, they make sure you can also buy a one-time gift box for postpartum on its own as well.
Their postpartum recovery box is bigger than their typical monthly boxes. It comes with 10-12 different products to help with your recovery and self care as a new mom.
Each box is personalized to fit different needs so there isn’t a set guide for what is included in each box.
You get to choose if it was a vaginal or c section birth along with your feeding plan.
I was fortunate enough to work with the owner on a project for a bit so I highly recommend this box. It is completely worth it over and over again.
